Welcome to St John the Baptist

The Scottish Episcopal Church

St John's, Rothiemurchus

The Church of St John the Baptist is a member of the Scottish Episcopal Church, which is a welcoming and inclusive Church that traces its history back to the beginnings of Christianity in Scotland. We are part of the world-wide Anglican Communion - a family of some 70 million Christians in more than 160 countries - for whom the Archbishop of Canterbury is a focus for unity.

Within our Church there are seven historic regions covering the whole of Scotland. Each area (known as a diocese) is under the pastoral care of a bishop, who together with the clergy and people of the diocese, seeks to be faithful to Jesus Christ and to respond faithfully to the spiritual needs and practical concerns of the community.

St John’s, Rothiemurchus, is situated in an idyllic woodland setting on the road from Aviemore to the Glenmore Forest Park and Cairngorm Mountains. Often referred to as ‘the little white church on the ski road’ it has become something of a landmark for the many visitors who have come to the area over the years.

Many thanks for visiting our website and please come to visit us if you are ever in the Highlands of Scotland, so that you can share in the joy which we feel in our little church.

Please visit the services page for details of our services and check out the Latest News page for details of additional services and the current parish news sheet (Yellow Pages).

The church is wheelchair accessible and has a hearing loop.
